A section of Aston Villa fans were left drooling over the display of John McGinn in the club’s 2-2 draw with Brentford at Villa Park on Wednesday night.
McGinn, 23, was snapped up from Hibernian earlier this month for just £2.1million, and has not taken long to dazzle the Villa faithful with his playmaking performances in the centre of the pitch.
The Scotland international was in great form yet again for Steve Bruce’s side in the draw with Brentford, with some fans blown away by their new addition.
This is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Never seen such a contrasting performance from an #AVFC team. I was scared by both our abysmal defending and pulsating attacking. One man who did shine above the inconsistency was John McGinn, who was stellar yet again. You don’t find players of his class for £2M often.

How good was McGinn again tonight? The boy is special. #AVFC

Great performance, one touch football, players passing & moving. Jedinak dominated in the air and building a relationship with defensive line. Mcginn quality – a fighter. Pleased for kodja and he's 2 goals – we still need a target man who can hold the ball up. #VTID #AVFC #UTV

OPINION
It probably isn’t the most wise idea to start thinking of selling McGinn – however £40million for someone they paid just £2.1million for would be the best business that Aston Villa have ever done. In all seriousness though, McGinn was a class act on Wednesday night and Bruce has played a blinder to get him signed up ahead of Celtic, who have been linked with the midfielder for over a year. The ex-Hibs star has a wand of a left foot and was unlucky not to score himself in the opening few minutes of the fixture – if only the chance fell to his favoured left foot. It ended up being a good point for the West Midlands club. Brentford’s attack is frightening and at the end of the season, fans will probably look back on this game and say that it was a fair result. Dean Smith’s side should have been down to 10 men then with goalscorer Neal Maupay stamping on McGinn in the first half. He should face a three-game ban for that and McGinn is lucky that he wasn’t seriously injured.
