Rangers have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Hearts to complete the signing of Kyle Lafferty – and a section of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news.
The Light Blues announced their 12th summer signing on their official Twitter account on Wednesday, which seals Lafferty’s return to Ibrox six years after he left on a free transfer in the aftermath of the club’s financial meltdown.

OPINION
It is the sort of reaction you can expect from Celtic fans. Lafferty is a big Rangers man and that means he stands for everything that Celtic isn’t, so there was bound to be a major reaction on Twitter from the Parkhead faithful. The Northern Ireland international is bound to get a lot of stick from the Hoops fans after the way he originally left Ibrox in 2012, but that seems to be in the past now for the Rangers support. The ex-Norwich man has been in good form when playing against the Bhoys and with an Old Firm coming up in just a few weeks, you can bet that Steven Gerrard will be starting him up front. One Celtic fan, despite calling him “vile”, believes that Lafferty will be able to tear up Brendan Rodgers’ defence this season, and he may have a point unless the Bhoys boss can improve his rearguard before the end of the month after a poor start to the season saw the lose to Hearts and crash out of the Champions League.
