Saido Berahino finally scored his first goal for Stoke in the club’s 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Huddersfield on Tuesday night – and that prompted a huge reaction from a section of West Brom fans on Twitter.
Berahino, 25, joined the Potters in January 2017 and on his 34th appearance for the club he finally found the back of the net to help book his side’s spot in the next round of the cup competition.
Since his exit from The Hawthorns, the ex-Baggies forward has been somewhat of a pantomime villain, and some fans were straight onto social media to patronise him for finally scoring for Stoke.

At least as he scored tonight it means I won’t worry the duck will be broken against us on Saturday. #prolificsaido #WBA

OPINION
West Brom face Stoke on Saturday, so some of these Albion fans are chalking off their fears that Berahino would break his duck against them this weekend, while others are worried that he will continue his form in front of goal against them. Looking at Berahino’s goal though, it was a massive fluke and had no real skill or quality involved in it. He had what was pretty much an open goal in front of him and still managed to almost miss with a skewed header. Albion fans should be more worried about James McClean scoring against them than Berahino because his form has improved in the last week or so. Either way, it promises to be a big game at The Hawthorns this weekend and it is really hard to pick a winner. West Brom’s home form since losing on the opening day to Bolton has been decent, but Stoke have always been a potential bogey team for the Black Country outfit. One thing is pretty much certain though, Berahino won’t be scoring again.
