Opinion

Well it appears as though Rangers fans are firmly behind the exit of Barjonas and it is indeed a move which makes a lot of sense. He needs the game time and with Steven Gerrard having brought in so many new signings to battle it out in the first team, the youngster’s chances would likely be few and far between. However, Bury seems a strange choice, not least because it highlights the gap between the Scottish Premiership and the English divisions. This is a young talent who has turned out for the senior side at Ibrox, but they are only deeming him good enough for the fourth tier of English football. Where does that rank some of the first teamers at the club – League One perhaps, or the very bottom of the Championship? The game time will do him some good but really, at 19, he and the club should be aiming higher for his aspirations. The short term deal will give the Gers the chance to judge whether they have made a mistake, because on paper, it looks as though that might be the case.
