Rangers have rejected Bordeaux’s seven-figure bid worth in excess of £3.75million for centre-forward Alfredo Morelos, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claimed via their website that negotiations are now underway between the two Europa League clubs as Bordeaux aim to lure the 22-year-old Colombian to south-west France.

It is understood that Turkish giants Fenerbahce have also seen a bid rejected for Morelos this summer.

Good move for Rangers?

At this stage of the summer? No way.

Morelos is without doubt the most key player in Steven Gerrard’s squad at Ibrox and if they are to cash in on him then Umar Sadiq, who played in the reserves on Tuesday, would be the only remaining senior centre-forward.

If the former HJK Helsinki forward was to leave Ibrox it would surely take a lot more than £3.75million as well.

In January, some huge fees were mentioned when Morelos attracted attention from China and since then he has signed a new contract.

Maybe the biggest mistake here is that those bids earlier in the year were turned down.

Likely to happen?

It must solely depend on the fee that Bordeaux are willing to pay because this £3.75million offer is nowhere near what he is worth to the Glasgow club.

Morelos is a mainstay of this side, having made 50 appearances across all competitions since joining from HJK for £1.5million last year.

It’s really hard to see Gerrard cashing in on him unless he pushes for the move.
