West Ham striker Jordan Hugill has arrived in his home town of Middlesbrough to undergo a medical as he is on the verge of securing a loan exit from the London Stadium, according to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie.

The north east correspondent for the broadcaster claims on his personal Twitter account that the 26-year-old has travelled to Teeside to complete the final stages of a temporary switch to the Championship side, having struggled to make his mark at the Hammers since joining from Preston North End back in January.

The Boro-born hitman has only made three appearances for the senior team with the Irons, and appeared to have fallen firmly out of favour under Manuel Pellegrini.

Good move for West Ham?

Potentially, although they really should have been looking at offloading Hugill on a permanent basis after his displays last season.

Quite frankly he is not up to scratch for the Premier League and considering the exciting new arrivals at the London Stadium, his chances of game time would have been even more limited than they were during the second half of the last camapign.

Perhaps they struggled to ship him out on a transfer deal, so are hoping a loan will reignite interest in him, especially if he hits the goal trail at Boro.

One things seems certain, and that is that he has little to no future in east London.

Likely to happen?

This is a move that appears imminent, and only some sort of breakdown in the medical tests could stop him from heading back to Middlesbrough.

Of course, fans have seen deals shockingly fall through this summer, and so never say never.
