Tottenham are lining up a £30m “transfer deadline beating bid” for Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook, according to the Daily Star.

Cook has caught the eye of Pochettino after some impressive displays for Bournemouth last season.

Bournemouth signed him for just over £6million from Leeds in 2016 and has now caught the eye of Tottenham and Liverpool, according to the Star.

Good move for Tottenham?

Not for £30million. There are some ridiculous prices quoted at this time in the transfer window and while Cook is talented and only 21-years-old, there’s no way that Daniel Levy will spend £30million on Cook when he won’t even seemingly spend that much on Jack Grealish. Cook would be a decent addition for Spurs but he’s not going to make the fans any happier after Levy has failed to get one single deal over the line, with just over a week to go before the summer window slams shut.

Likely to happen?

See above. It might happen if there’s a more realistic price on the table but Cook only just signed a new contract extension in May that keeps him at Bournemouth until 2022. They have no imperative to sell such an important player, and certainly no imperative to do it on the cheap. All of that leads to this being a total dead end as far as Tottenham are concerned.
