Rafael Benitez has had his request for new arrivals approved by Newcastle United’s senior figures, according to Chronicle Live.

The outlet claims that Benitez will be given the funds to bring in three players before the window shuts in less than a weeks time but he must still stick to the strict budget set by the club.

The report reveals that the Spaniard hopes to sign a central defender, a left-back and a striker before the window closes.

It is understood that the striker target is thought to be Salomon Rondon, the left-back target is thought to be PSG’s Stanley N’Soki, while the search for a central defender is still ongoing.

Finally, Rafael Benitez seems to be getting somewhere with the Newcastle board. With just a few days left until the summer transfer window shuts, the Spaniard has finally been given the green light to pursue his preferred targets. The likes of reported targets Salomon Rondon from West Brom and Stanley N’Soki from PSG will improve the side but a central defender is the crucial one as they are seriously lacking in that area following Florian Lejeune’s long-term knee injury. The question now is, will Benitez be able to get these transfers over the line with such a short time left to complete the deals. The Magpies manager faces a race against time, other clubs and his owner to try and get these transfers confirmed before it’s too late. Even if he does manage to get them done, the fans can expect another long, hard season in their upcoming Premier League campaign.
