Newcastle deadline-day deals in jeopardy

Newcastle deals for Andros Townsend, Danny Ings and Federico Fernandez are potentially off at the moment, according to the Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon.

He claims that if Stoke finalise a deal for Sam Clucas from Swansea, it would mean that any deal for Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie would be off.

Nixon claims that would trigger a transfer deadline-day merry-go-round effect that would stop moves for Townsend, Ings and possibly Fernandez.

He added that Newcastle’s bid for Fernandez is currently at £3million.

OPINION

Rafa Benitez painted a pessimistic picture of Newcastle’s summer transfers and it looks like his warning could be set to come true. With the deadline for permanent deals just hours away, Newcastle are seemingly dependent on other deals to get new players through the door, and that makes them extremely unlikely to happen. Nixon seems to think that if Ritchie doesn’t go, that deals for Ings and Townsend will not happen. He added that the Fernandez deal could possibly be affected too. Newcastle fans will be desperately hoping for good news today, with many of their rivals strengthening, but it could be a day that delivers nothing. Newcastle have got a couple of deals over the line already, but is Salomon Rondon the marquee signing that fans were hoping for? As it stands it’s going to be another desperately disappointing window for fans who deserve so much better.
