West Brom want £10million plus Sam Vokes before allowing Hawthorns mainstay Jay Rodriguez to return to Burnley, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed on their live transfer blog on Thursday [08:08am] that the Clarets have rejected the possibility of that deal happening, even though the Baggies are demanding a flat £18million fee for Rodriguez, who has started the first two games of the season for Darren Moore despite major speculation.

Vokes, 28, is earning £17,000-a-week on his deal at Turf Moor according to statistics website Spotrac, and is understood to be in Turkey at the moment as Burnley prepare to play Basaksehir in the Europa League.

The Mail adds that flights have been planned for any potential medicals that could come about on deadline, however it appears that time may be running out.

Good move for West Brom?

If the Baggies can get £10million and Vokes for Rodriguez it would be a stunning bit of business by the Black Country club, however at the moment it appears as though that might not happen.

Vokes would be a solid replacement for Salomon Rondon.

The Welsh powerhouse can bully defenders, hold up the ball and win aerial duels. He is the perfect strike partner for Dwight Gayle.

Even though he is a former Wolves player, Albion fans would surely love the idea of signing a striker with 52 goals in 198 Championship appearances in his career.

Likely to happen?

Burnley seem as though they have been after Rodriguez all summer and neither club can seem to agree upon what they consider a fair deal.

However this £10million plus Vokes does seem like it could benefit both clubs and it’s hard to see why Burnley have rejected it.

As the Mail reports, time is running out and the fact that the Wales international is in Turkey does not help one bit.
