Winger Bernard has arrived at the airport to put the finishing touches to a transfer to Everton, according to a reliable journalist.

The Brazil international, 25, was pictured with broadcaster and ex-Sky Sports News man Alan Myers as he posted a selfie on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

Myers tweeted “welcome to Everton, Bernard” as he delivered a definitive update on the club’s bid to push through the signing before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

Good move for Everton?

Definitely. Bernard is a Brazil international who is proven in the Champions League and has extensive experience at Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk, who he left in the summer after five years. A wide forward who will challenge the likes of Richarlison, Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman – if he stays – for a starting place in the new season, Bernard is a massive upgrade on the likes of Kevin Mirallas and Yannick Bolaise, who is closing in on a move to Middlesbrough. His wages are said to be on the massive side of hefty, but the winger comes with the major advantage of being a free agent. Signing a top qualify performer for free is smart business by the Merseysiders, especially as they have fended off plenty of Premier League rivals to get the deal done.

Likely to happen?

Assuming there are no last-minute hiccups with Bernard’s work permit or medical tests, expect him to be confirmed as an Everton player by the time the transfer window shuts tomorrow night.
