Aston Villa are likely to secure a swoop for Watford winger Isaac Success as he looks set to leave the Premier League side, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Bleacer Report writer claims on his personal Twitter account that the speedy 22-year-old looks set to move to the Villans, having been sent out on loan to Spanish side Malaga for the second half of last season, having struggled to force his way into the Hornets’ set up.

The one-cap Nigerian international has 19 Premier League appearances under his belt, netting once and chipping in with another assist, and has been known to operate as a centre forward as well as in his natural wing role, with the versatility to play on either flank.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Absolutely – even if his top flight record does not scream success (unlike his name).

He has struggled over the past couple of seasons due to a mix of form and injury, and it seems as though it is time for him to rediscover himself elsewhere.

Villa could be perfect for him, with his speed and trickery likely to strike fear into the heart of Championship defences were he to drop down a tier.

Their ambitions of a return to the Premier League mean he will be expected to make an immediate impact but that could be exactly what he needs, with Steve Bruce giving him a role to dazzle and shine in attack.

There is a reason Watford signed him in the first place – perhaps Villa could get the best out of him.

Likely to happen?

Journalist Jones certainly seems to think so, although he fails to add whether it would be another loan or a permanent exit.

A temporary swoop seems more likely, even with Villa’s added funds courtesy of their new owners, and that could be the best solution for both clubs as well as the player.

One to watch not only before Thursday’s transfer deadline, but the loan window which ends at the end of August.
