Middlesbrough are working on a stunning £15million last-gasp deal to sign Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports News’ north-east correspondent Keith Downie reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that the Championship club are trying to sign Bolasie on a permanent deal.

Downie explained that Boro manager Tony Pulis knows Bolasie well from his time at Crystal Palace as he looks to seal an “ambitious” late window deal.

Good move for Everton?

Yes. Bolasie is surplus to requirements at Goodison following a major overhaul under Marco Silva in recent weeks. Everton have already signed Richarlison for £44million and are close to sealing a deal for Brazil international Bernard to join on a free transfer. With Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman also vying for the wide forward roles, there is little chance of Bolasie getting much game time barring an injury crisis. The DR Congo international has made little impact since joining from Crystal Palace two years ago, scoring just two goals from 32 matches for Everton, and will not be missed, but he should thrive at a Championship club against less demanding opponents.

Likely to happen?

Downie has excellent north-east contacts and if he claims a deal is on the cards, then it should be taken seriously. Boro are in the market for a wide man as Adama Traore closes in on a move to Wolves. With money to spend at the Championship big guns, this looks a go-er for all parties.
