Celtic are ready to negotiate a potential exit for Moussa Dembele with Marseille in the hunt to sign the striker, according to RMC Sport.

The French news outlet claims that Dembele, 22, has been “seduced” by the idea of playing for the Ligue 1 giants and contact has been made between Marseille and the Parkhead first teamer.

It is understood that no bid has been tabled as of yet, but as the transfer deadline closes in, an offer appears to be on the cards.

Good move for Celtic?

Unless Brendan Rodgers can quickly find a young centre-forward who is ready to score 25 goals a season, selling Dembele is probably the worst thing that the Hoops boss could do this week.

Although the former Fulham striker has had his injury problems over the last year and a half, he is without doubt one of the best players in Scottish football and is simply invaluable for the Bhoys.

He has scored 51 goals in 94 appearances across all competitions since joining Celtic a little over two years ago, and the chances of Rodgers being able to find someone who can average better than a goal every other game are slim.

Likely to happen?

Celtic may be ready to talk with Marseille, but that does not mean that they are ready to sell.

Negotiations could be as short and simple as the Hoops telling the French club that Dembele is going nowhere.

It would be a massive shock to see Rodgers cash in on the 22-year-old, especially when time would be so limited to find a replacement.
