Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has shut down on Twitter a supporter who mocked him for being frozen out by new manager Marcelo Bielsa.

The Poland international, 28, responded on his personal Twitter account to a United fan who tried to burn him for his reported demotion to the Under-23s since the club returned to pre-season training.

Klich denied that was the case when asked how he found it in the youth team, claiming “don’t know, never been”.

OPINION

What a brilliant response from Klich to the Leeds fan who got the hump after the former Wolfsburg player lauded his ex-teammates Mario Mandzukic and Ivan Perisic following their contributions to putting England to the sword in Croatia’s World Cup semi-final win on Wednesday night. The midfielder has received criticism and sympathy from sections of the Leeds support since being signed last summer and then virtually ignored. He only made 10 first team appearances for United – including just a single Championship start – before he was sent on loan to Utrecht in January. The Pole asserted himself back in the familiar territory of the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring once and assisting three times more from 13 appearances across all competitions. Clearly, Klich has not been demoted to train with the kids (unless he is telling a porky pie). Does this mean he has the chance to salvage his Leeds career? You would assume so, unless a deal to sell or loan him is in the works.
