COMMENTARY:
Leeds have certainly been active in the transfer window, but the problem for their increasingly agitated supporters is that all the deals have been outgoing ones. Loaning out 19-year-old Wilks for the third time in little over a year is sensible enough. He is not ready for the United first team and needs lower league football in order to gain crucial experience and develop his game following on from stints at Accrington Stanley and Grimsby Town last season. But can the outgoings now be replaced by star quality? That is what Leeds fans are calling for after Wilks became the ninth Leeds player to leave the club in what has become a major clear-out of surplus or junior players this summer. United have brought in a manager of pedigree and experience, but need to provide him with players capable of mounting a promotion challenge.
