Tottenham must take advantage of the hesitation in contract talks between Liverpool and Rhian Brewster to make a sensational swoop for one of the hottest young properties in world football.

The door is ajar for Spurs to make a move after the Sun reported yesterday negotiations between Brewster and his employers are yet to result in a new contract.

It is said the young striker, 18, has agreed the terms of his first professional contract “in principle” with the Merseysiders but has failed to put pen to paper amid concerns about his pathway to Jurgen Klopp’s first team.

Now is the time to strike for Tottenham, who have already registered their interest in the wonderkid along with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona and Monaco.

Brewster is certainly a young player in huge demand across the globe, which demonstrates his immense promise.

Liverpool are convinced they have a rare gem on their hands, and have been working on convincing the star of England Under-17s’ World Cup win last year that his future should be at Anfield.

The striker, who joined from Chelsea at the age of 14, was on the verge of a transfer to Germany earlier this summer before deciding to commit to his current club.

But the latest twist provides a chance for Spurs, who have an excellent record during the Mauricio Pochettino era of developing and nurturing outstanding young talent.

Moreover, the first team are crying out for a Marcus Rashford-type forward who can provide a pacy and mobile alternative to main man Harry Kane.

Tottenham have a lot to offer Brewster, including the financial resources to make him an offer that at least matches that on offer from Anfield.

They would be pulling off the deal of the summer if they landed the brilliant teen.
