A section of Tottenham fans have delivered mixed verdicts on Twitter after Sky Sports reported the club are in extended talks to sign Jack Grealish.
The broadcaster reported on their website this afternoon (Wednesday) that negotiations are “ongoing” over a deal for the Aston Villa playmaker, who is valued at between £30million-40million.
Spurs fans reacted en masse to the report, split between those keen for the signing to be finalised immediately and those convinced he is not the answer to the team’s need for more attacking thrust.

Grealish (£20m)
A LB to replace Rose (Grimaldo – £25m)
A CB if Toby leaves (Pavard – £40m)
A CM to replace Dembele (Rabiot – £40m / Sanson £30m)
A winger to replace Sissoko (Lozano – £35m / Pulisic – £40m)
A FW to challenge Kane (Martial, toby swap deal + £20m?)— DG (@RealDGGHD) July 18, 2018
COMMENTARY:
Grealish is a player that splits opinion among those who mainly observe Premier League football. Championship followers, especially those who watched the playmaker in action for Villa in the final months of last season, will view him differently. They will have seen the massive improvement in the consistency of his performances, something he had struggled with either side of his 20s when the substance did not match the hype. Sure, Grealish is not worth £40million. Far from it. Or, £30million, either. But Spurs would be getting a serious talent and a potentially brilliant deal if they can land him for around £25million. Aged 22, Grealish has magic feet, is crafty and able to carry the ball forward long distances. He could be the signing of the summer.
