Leeds United are experiencing major frustration in their bid to secure four potential new signings, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claim the Championship big hitters could walk away from talks to sign Derby County striker Matej Vydra due to the increasing cost of his wage demands and an offer to ex-Hull City spearhead Abel Hernandez has failed to amount to anything.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report Leeds’ bid to land a new goalkeeper has also hit a dead end as their loan offer for Birmingham City goalkeeper David Stockdale was rejected and the pursuit of Chelsea youngster Jamal Blackman has yet to result in a breakthrough.

OPINION

Leeds fans were already frustrated enough before the reliable Yorkshire Evening Post’s extensive transfer update. Supporters will be, if not spitting feathers, then hammering their keyboards in disappointment. Some anger will no doubt be centred at owner Andrea Radrizzani and director of football Victor Orta for failing to back up the club’s interest with anything meaningful. All are aware that time is running out for permanent deals, with the transfer window set to shut earlier than ever on 9 August this year. Can Leeds secure the deals they need before the deadline? Possibly, although the nagging feeling for virtually every White will be, ‘do we actually have the money to back up the big talk?’ The jury is certainly out on that one, as speculation the club would shatter their wage structure to sign an A-list Championship striker has yet to be substantiated. The only way to do so would be for a prolific forward – preferably two – to be unveiled before the cut-off next month.
