West Brom forward Jay Rodriguez would likely be open to moving to Tottenham this summer and reuniting with his former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, according to football.london.

The news outlet claims that Rodriguez, 28, would probably consider moving to a bigger club after the Baggies were relegated from the Premier League last season, when he managed to overcome his injury problems and scored 11 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Rodriguez was one of few players to impress at The Hawthorns last term, where according to statistics website Spotrac he is on a deal worth £60,000-a-week.

Good move for Tottenham?

Rodriguez was in good form at West Brom last season in his debut season in the Black Country and Pochettino cannot be blamed for taking an interest in his former Southampton player.

The 28-year-old had a rough time with injuries on the south coast but now he appears to have gotten over the worst of them and even had Steven Gerrard suggesting he could be called up for England in January.

The ex-Burnley forward is definitely better than Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente and could be a good back-up option to Harry Kane.

He also has the ability to play in a deeper role or on the wing, so he could be a very handy member of Pochettino’s squad if he wanted to sign him up.

Likely to happen?

West Brom have so far remained reluctant to sell Rodriguez.

He is without doubt someone who could win the Championship golden boot next season if he stays and the Independent has reported that he will not look to force a move away from The Hawthorns, despite interest from his former side Burnley.

It’s hard to see him joining Spurs, even though it would be a good signing.
