A section of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to urge the club to sign up reported transfer target Wilmar Barrios after watching him play for Colombia in their World Cup defeat to England on Tuesday night.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca di Marzio has previously claimed that Spurs have made an offer for Barrios, 24, to head to North London this summer and play alongside his international team-mate Davinson Sanchez.
The Boca Juniors enforcer has been impressive in the World Cup for his energetic displays in midfield, however on Tuesday night he probably should have been sent off for headbutting England’s Jordan Henderson.
Some Spurs fans believe that he would make a good signing though and have called on the club to snap him up, with one saying: “Come on Mr Levy, sign him.”

OPINION
Barrios’ performance against England was nasty, aggressive and downright dirty – and that is why Tottenham should be looking to sign him up this summer. So what if he headbutted Henderson? It’s not a nice thing to do but it’s not like Dele Alli hasn’t been caught out for violent conduct before and look how good he is for Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino needs a nasty man in his midfield like Barrios. Away from his aggressive demeanor he has great characteristics that any squad would need. He has high work-rate, teamwork and is good both on and off the ball. He’d be a very good buy.
