A section of Leeds United fans have left blown away on Twitter after it was claimed that the club has tabled a bid for Al-Sadd goal machine Baghdad Bounedjah.
Algerian news outlet DZ Foot has reported that Leeds have made a “firm offer” for the 26-year-old striker after seeing him score an incredible 25 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions last season.
It is understood that the Whites are also closing in on Derby forward Matej Vydra, but that has not halted their pursuit of the the Algeria international, who has been prolific in the Qatari Stars League since joining Al-Sadd in 2015.
Some Leeds fans are very excited about the possibility of signing Bounedjah, with one urging the club to “get him in”.

Can’t comment on the level he has played at but it is one hell of a goal to game ratio #lufc

OPINION
Looking at Bounedjah’s record shows why Leeds fans would be excited about the possibility of signing him, but they need to remember what league he is playing in and how these types of signings last summer ultimately saw the club go backwards. The Algeria international could just be another Pierre-Michel Lasogga or another Caleb Ekuban. With the Whites heavily linked to Vydra and Abel Hernandez, it’s clear that Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta want proven Championship scorers. It’s easy to get carried away with Bounedjah’s stats. He’s obviously too good for that league he’s in but that doesn’t mean he’ll do well in England.
