A section of Leeds United fans have been going berserk on Twitter after it was reported that they could be on the verge of missing out on the chance to re-sign Swansea defender Kyle Bartley this summer.

Telegraph journalist John Percy reported on his personal Twitter account on Monday that West Brom are in advanced talks to sign Bartley, 27, in a £3.5million deal that could be completed by Friday.

Leeds are yet to sign a single player on a permanent basis since the end of last season and many fans seemed as though they though Bartley would make a triumphant return to Elland Road, two years after initially joining them on loan when the Yorkshire Evening Post reported in April that the Whites were in talks with Swansea about signing him.

Some Leeds fans have been left raging after this latest development though, with one claiming that manager Marcelo Bielsa “will walk”.

OPINION

Leeds were said to be in talks about signing Bartley a few months ago now and the lack of progress made since then suggests that they could not agree a fee with Swansea, or what has changed is that Bielsa does not want him. Either way, Leeds are very light for options at centre-back and Bartley would have been a brilliant signing for the club, especially at £3.5million. Fans have every right to be annoyed. Has Andrea Radrizzani spent all his cash on getting in Bielsa? Leeds simply must get one or even two signings done by the end of this week.
