Wolves must raid bitter rivals West Brom for playmaker Nacer Chadli this summer after a stunning World Cup saw him help Belgium achieve their best-ever finish.

Chadli, 28, made just six appearances across all competitions for the Baggies in an injury-ravaged 2017/18 season, but managed to find himself in the form of his life in Russia for his nation.

The former Tottenham attacker scored one goal, supplied an assist and forced an own goal by Brazil in his six appearances at the World Cup, where Belgium finished third after beating England in the third-place play-off last Saturday.

And given his form at the World Cup, Nuno Espirito Santo should look to trigger Chadi’s release clause and get him to swap his blue and white stripes for Wolves’ gold and black.

The Telegraph has reported that Chadli can leave West Brom for £17million this summer due to a release clause that was activated following Albion’s relegation last season.

Wolves’ activity has been minimal so far compared to what was expected of them, but they can make a considerable addition to their attacking force if they were to sign up Chadli.

The Belgium international has made 124 Premier League appearances in his spells at West Brom and Tottenham, scoring 21 goals and supplied 15 assists in the process.

Roberto Martinez played him at wing-back at the World Cup, and although he is usually and attacking midfielder or left-winger, the £60,000-a-week (Spotrac) player could slot into Nuno’s system quite well.

There is just over three weeks until the transfer window slams shut, and this is one deal that Wolves must look to get wrapped up as soon as possible before other clubs becoming interested in the in-form Baggie.
