A section of West Ham fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that the club has approached Barcelona with an enquiry about Portuguese playmaker Andre Gomes.
Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo has reported that Manuel Pellegrini is insisting on signing Gomes, 24, and the Hammers have made contact with Barca about snapping him up this summer.
Since then, the Portugal international has picked up a hamstring injury and has returned to Spain from his side’s pre-season tour of the USA.
And some West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react to the transfer report, with one claiming that it would be an “insane” move to sign Gomes.

Think Barca fans hate him but I suppose we’re not above their cast offs.

If on loan with 1-2 months wages comped, wouldn’t be a bad deal. No one is going to buy him now with that injury, and they’re desperate to offload him!

OPINION
One West Ham fan has made a very good suggestion as signing Gomes on loan could be a decent bit of business in order to work around his new injury problem. It’s a bit of a blow for the Hammers if they were actually in the hunt to sign the Portugal international because he has a lot of quality and will be a good addition to Pellegrini’s squad. The Chilean certainly seems intent on signing the midfielder and even though he is down the pecking order at Barca, that does not mean that he would be a bad signing for the Hammers, as one fan pointed out.
