West Brom have joined the likes of West Ham and Everton in the hunt to sign Gillingham goalkeeper Tomas Holy, according to TeamTalk.

The news outlet claims that Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough are also interested in Holy, 26, after an “outstanding” 2017/18 season with League One Gillingham.

It is understood that the Kent-based club are now bracing themselves to lose the 6ft 9in colossus before the transfer window slams shut next week and are ready to replace the Czech shot-stopper in their starting line-up with his understudy Tom Hadler.

Good move for West Brom?

Darren Moore has already signed Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond this summer but it appears that the Baggies want three senior goalkeepers to choose from in the upcoming Championship season.

Holy was in top form at Gillingham last term, keeping 10 clean sheets in 49 appearances across all competitions.

The former Sparta Prague shot-stopper must have been doing well to attract the attention from so many Premier League clubs, so he would certainly be a good back-up option to Johnstone, who will more than likely perform better if there is competition for his No 1 spot.

Likely to happen?

Gillingham appear to be resigned to losing Holy this summer, but out of all the clubs interested in signing him, West Brom are probably the least likely club to pull off a deal.

Moore already has two goalkeepers in Johnstone and Bond and if he wanted to add a third option, it would surely be done on the cheap or as a fee transfer so that he can focus spending money on other areas of the squad.

Albion’s midfield and strikeforce will probably need bolstering if Salomon Rondon, Jay Rodriguez and Nacer Chadli leave while the defence may also need padding out if Craig Dawson goes.
