A section of Tottenham fans have been left drooling over the possibility of signing Valencia enforcer Geoffrey Kondogbia this summer after it was reported that the club has opened talks about a potential deal.
France Football has reported that Spurs are in pole position to sign the 25-year-old and have started discussions about a deal for the five-times France international, even though he was signed by Valencia on a permanent basis earlier in the transfer window.
Reliable journalist Andrew Gaffney, who writes for Spanish news outlet Sport, has claimed on his personal Twitter account that Kondogbia has a £71.3million release clause in his contract and that is how much the La Liga club would demand in order to sell him.
Kondogbia was someone Spurs were after in the summer before he signed for Valencia. The Spanish club won’t listen to offers now and would insist any interested party pays his €80m buyout clause.

OPINION
It is understandable that Tottenham fans would be loving the idea of signing Kondogbia. He would be an upgrade one someone like Victor Wanyama and with the possibility of Mousa Dembele leaving this summer, there is likely to be the need for a replacement. It would take a lot to sign the former Inter Milan player though. He was in top form at Valencia last term and has recently made his loan deal there permanent. Daniel Levy would have to spent a huge amount of money, but these Spurs fans will be bowing down to the chairman if he is able to pull this move off.
