A number of Rangers fans have taken to social media to express their delight at the report that the club are set to announce the release of senior defender Lee Hodson imminently.

Trusted Ibrox insider EstConsultancy have claimed on their Twitter account that the Gers are to bring the 26-year-old full back’s Ibrox career to a premature end, with another year left to run on his current contract, and that the news should be revealed soon.

The 23-cap Northern Irish international struggled for game time with the Light Blues since joining from MK Dons two years ago, and managed to make just nine first team appearances last season.

The Gers faithful have been left raving at the possibility of the 26-year-old leaving this summer, taking to Twitter to voice their opinions – primarily through the medium of GIFs.

This is FutbolĀ has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ tweets:

Opinion

There could well be some Rangers fans dancing in the same manner in some of those GIFs once Hodson’s exit is confirmed. His stint at Ibrox has been massively underwhelming and it is no surprise to see fans delighted to see the back of him. He represented a disappointing time in the club’s history but now the club can finally start looking forward under Steven Gerrard. Bang average players have no place in this new and improved Rangers squad and there could well be a couple more out the exit door before summer is up – for now though, Hodson’s departure will be savoured.
