Everyone knows that not every signing is going to be a success – and when the pressure is on at a massive club like Celtic, the stakes are raised even higher than usual.

The Hoops are currently in one of their most dominant spells over the rest of Scottish football in history, and there have been few who have looked like stopping the Parkhead juggernaut on their way to yet more success.

The squad that Brendan Rodgers has built up is one full of quality and talent, but it has left a couple of players hanging on to the very fringes, when in reality they should have been cut off some time ago.

One such man in 26-year-old Scott Allan, who, despite three years with the Hoops, has managed to make just 17 first team appearances, and with a year left on his contract, his time at the club looks to be coming to an end – but he could play a vital role in ensuring their future success.

The Scottish Sun report that the Bhoys have tabled a £1.5million bid for Hibernian’s John McGinn, which was promptly rejected by the Easter Park outfit, and that Brendan Rodgers could use Allan, a former Hibs star who spent time on loan at the club last season, as a potential makeweight in a swap swoop.

The Daily Record state that Hibs have slapped a £4million asking price on McGinn’s head, and the revelation of the £2.5million difference in price mean that the potential swap for Allan, who managed to chip in with 14 assists during his loan spells at Dundee and Hibernian last season, is a must for Rodgers.

Both McGinn and Allan are out of contract next summer, cutting what both clubs can demand for their sales, and by agreeing to a swap move, the former’s club could pick up both cash and a tailor made replacement for their outbound star, while Celtic get the man they want at a price they can afford.
