Rangers are in the hunt to sign Manchester City defender Kean Bryan as Steven Gerrard remains on the lookout for a new left-sided centre-back, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that Gers director of football Mark Allen knows Bryan, 21, well from his days at Man City while the defender played alongside Gerrard’s cousin Anthony Gerrard while on loan at Oldham last season.

It is understood that Millwall’s Jake Cooper and Blackpool’s Curtis Tilt are also on the Light Blues’ radar as they aim to sign another defender, but they have now been alerted to Bryan due to his availability.

Good move for Rangers?

Bryan had a decent season on loan at Oldham in 2017/18 as he appeared 37 times across all competitions, scoring two goals in the process.

Out of the three centre-backs that Rangers are looking at, he would more than likely be the easiest to sign due to the fact that he will be nowhere near the Man City first team next season and is in the final year of his contract.

He probably would not be as good as either Cooper or Tilt, but given the fact that the Gers have so far struggled to sign either of them, they may have to forget plan A and plan B and go in for former England youth international Bryan.

Likely to happen?

Given the fact that Cooper and Tilt may be too expensive for Rangers, a move for Bryan is quite likely.

It’s no secret that Steven Gerrard wants to sign a new left-sided centre-back, so he is bound to bring in someone before the transfer window slams shut.

Bryan now seems to be the most likely one to be coming in due to his availability.
