Rangers attacker Josh Windass will leave Ibrox within the next one or two weeks, according to broadcaster Bill Young.

The Rock Sport Radio presenter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that Windass, 24, will be heading to the English Premier League before the transfer window slams shut.

Windass is a key player in the Gers’ first team. He appeared 41 times across all competitions last season, scoring 18 goals in the process, and has started both of the club’s Europa League qualifiers this summer.

Good move for Rangers?

Windass gets a hard time from the fans due to his lack of consistency and the fact that he goes missing for large periods of games.

He still managed to score 18 goals last season, which is very impressive for someone who has been widely criticised, but if the Light Blues were to make a decent profit off selling him, it would be a good idea to cash in.

Steven Gerrard has been widely reported to be in the hunt for a left-sided centre-back and could definitely look to reinvest the money made off selling Windass to sign Millwall’s Jake Cooper.

Windass will more than likely struggle in the Premier League as in England he is a Championship player at best, but it does not matter where he goes to Rangers, as they just need the money.

Likely to happen?

It is just hard to believe that Windass would be wanted by a Premier League club. Surely the team interested in signing him is just looking a his goalscoring stats from last term?

Stats will hide the fact that he does little to impact games when he is not in goalscoring form and it’s a real shock that he would attract attention from England’s top-flight.
