A section of Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that Steven Gerrard is interested in signing Manchester City defender Kean Bryan this summer.

The Scottish Sun has claimed that director of football Mark Allen knows Bryan, 21, well from his days at the Premier League giants, and with the Light Blues in pursuit of a left-sided centre-back, they have turned their attention to the former England youth international.

Bryan is in the final year of his contract at Man City and spent last season on loan at Oldham, where he made 37 appearancs across all competitions and scored two goals.

Some Rangers fans have been left divided about a potential move for the young defender, with one claiming that he has “huge potential”.

OPINION

While Rangers do need to sign another centre-forward, as some of the fans have suggested, there is also no harm in looking into a cheap deal for an additional centre-back. Gerrard may want to play with a back-three throughout the whole of the 2018/19 season, and he will not be able to do that with minimal options in that area of the squad. Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson have been brought in to add depth to the defence, but players have left like David Bates and Bruno Alves, so the back-line is still not as padded out as everyone may think. Hopefully Gerrard does bring in another striker as well though, because Alfredo Morelos has looked poor lately.
