West Ham United have held talks with Porto over a possible swap deal involving striker Moussa Marega, according to the Daily Mail.

The outlet report that the Hammers have opened negotiations over the signing of the 27-year-old, who is said to be rated at £22million by the Primeira Liga side.

The report also reveals that the Portuguese side are interested in signing Cheikhou Kouyate and could be included in any potential deal in order for the Irons to secure a cut price fee for Marega’s capture.

The Mali international scored 23 goals across all competitions for Porto last season, also registering five assists.

Good signing for West Ham?

Looks good on the face of it.

The 27-year-old was a regular goalscorer last season and averaged almost a goal a game in Portugal.

He’s scored goals at every club he’s been at and would add real firepower to The London Stadium frontline next season.

Including Cheikhou Kouyate in any potential deal would be a smart move as he’s not going to be first choice anyway this season.

Exciting times at West Ham.

Likely to happen?

Looks good at the moment.

The fact that Porto want Cheikhou Kouyate means that the Hammers have got the advantage in the negotiations and can set a price for what they think he’s worth and then offer the difference for Marega.

However, would the Mali international striker really be keen on a move from a top European side to a mid-table Premier League club?

Manuel Pellegrini would have to sell the ambitions of the club and emphasise the number of exciting signings they’ve made, otherwise, he’s not going to be too keen.
