West Ham are set to smash their transfer record in the next few hours by completing a sensational £38million deal for Felipe Anderson, according to Globo Esporte.

The Brazilian outlet claim that a deal for the Lazio winger to move to the London Stadium is on the cusp of being completed after the Hammers increased their offer.

Globo Esporte report that West Ham and Lazio are set to finalise business “in the next few hours” that will see Anderson sign for a club-record fee of £38million.

Good move for West Ham?

Definitely. Anderson is a top-class wide forward with the talent to consistently create and score goals in a major league. His track record at Lazio is impressive and it is little wonder scouts from the Premier League giants have been beating a path to the Olimpico Stadium in recent years. Capped by Brazil at international level, Anderson is aged 25 and entering his peak years. Once he gets his feet under the table, he can make an even bigger impact that West Ham’s current record signing Marko Arnautovic, who joined the club last summer in a deal worth up to £25million.

Likely to happen?

This transfer has developed into something of a saga this summer, with multiple reports from multiple sources claiming on a few occasions a deal has been agreed, only for it to collapse at the last minute. So, West Ham fans won’t be breaking out the bunting quite yet, But, given that the Hammers hierarchy have already completed four major signings this summer – with Jack Wilshere the latest done deal – there appears a willingness to do genuine top-class business.
