West Ham are set to shatter their transfer record again with a deal worth almost £50million for Lazio winger Felipe Anderson, according to the Sun.

They claim that he jetted into London on Thursday ready for his medical on Friday, and will complete a deal for £41m plus £6m in add-ons.

That means West Ham will be smashing their transfer record again after a £24m deal for Issa Diop earlier in the summer.

If this goes ahead as planned Anderson will join Diop, Andriy Yarmalenko, Jack Wilshere, Lukas Fabianski and Ryan Fredericks as major new signings at the London Stadium.

Good move for West Ham?

It’s not only a good move for West Ham, it’s one that makes a massive statement of intent. The deal will not only shatter the West Ham transfer record, but almost double it, and put West Ham into the upper bracket of Premier League spenders. That’s a good move on the pitch and it’s possibly an even better move off it, as West Ham fans are now squarely on board and the supporters and the board can move as one onto supporting the side next season. That’s a big turnaround and one the board must be applauded for. Credit where credit’s due.

Likely to happen?

We have no doubt now that Anderson will become Pellegrini’s sixth signing of the summer and by far the biggest. The transfer saga has been a protracted one and it looked like Anderson might slip through the net on a number of occasions. Now, though, it looks like the massive fee has been agreed and barring any hitches with the medical, Anderson could be announced as early as Friday to the waiting West Ham fans.
