Everton are plotting to make a move for Barcelona left back Lucas Digne in what would be a double swoop involving central defender Yerry Mina, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Toffees are keen on bolstering their back line with the Catalan duo’s pair, both of which have been on the fringes at the Nou Camp, and that there is some uncertainty whether Mina will be allowed to go permanently or on loan.

It is stated that Digne has already asked to leave the club this summer and that there has been a £10million-plus price tag slapped on his head, having managed to make just 20 appearances for the La Liga title winners last season.

Good move for Everton?

Digne is no slouch and would offer a serious threat going forwards as well as remaining defensively resolute when the opposition have the ball.

At a fee of around £10million, it is an absolute steal of a price for the 24-year-old, and if the French full-back can capture the form which convinced Barcelona to take him on, Everton would be pulling off one of the best value deals of the summer.

With Leighton Baines heading towards the twilight of his career, a replacement is needed, and Digne could well be the man to take his place at Goodison Park.

Likely to happen?

Digne’s exit certainly seems on the cards, and it depends on whether Everton can beat the competition to his capture.

For such a reasonable price tag, there are going to be many suitors sniffing around, although with their Premier League money, the Toffees must be close to the front of the queue.

The double swoop is a bit more ambitious though, and will take some serious negotiating before that sort of move is anywhere near completion.
