A section of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to hail Fabinho for his performance in the team’s 3-2 pre-season friendly win over Tranmere on Tuesday night.
The summer signing from Monaco lined up in central midfield alongside Naby Keita in the first half as Jurgen Klopp fielded two different sides for each 45-minute period.
Rafael Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana had given the visitors a 3-0 interval lead at Prenton Park but, after wholesale changes by Klopp, Johnny Smith and Rovers’ Amadou Soukouna reduced the final deficit.
Nevertheless, many Reds were delighted by the display from Fabinho.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Fabinho has been the player of the half so far. He’ll turn out to be a fantastic signing for us. Reads the game well, tackles, intercepts and has a great pass on him as well. Perfect for that holding midfield role. #LFC #LFCPreSeason

I’m not one to exaggerate but Fabinho is looking like the best CDM ever to grace an English pitch.

COMMENTARY:
It’s that time of year when optimism from fans know no bounds. The sun is shining, sun-tanned players are looking fit, healthy and motivated, and the pressures of the big matches are all to come. For now, players can get fit and make the odd mistake safe in the knowledge it will not affect the club’s place in the league table. Fabinho, who was not selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad, has the luxury of a full pre-season programme to get acquainted with his new colleagues, including fellow summer signing Keita. The Brazilian was used in a midfield anchorman role in the opening half at Tranmere. Bigger tests lie ahead, but his super-smooth display undeniably left supporters purring.
