Celtic are readying themselves for a bid from Premier League side Fulham for left back Kieran Tierney, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports that the Cottagers watched the 21-year-old in Champions League qualifying action last week, and are now waiting to see if he will leave the Scottish champions this window.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are said to be demanding £25million for their key man, with Tierney himself not actively pursuing a move away from Parkhead.

The report states that Wolves, Bournemouth and Everton have all shown an interest in the Scotland international, but that Fulham are keen to pair Tierney with their teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon.

Good move for Celtic?

The good news for Bhoys fans is that the club are standing their ground and sticking to their valuation of the player. It remains to be seen whether Fulham, or anyone else, are prepared to pay the £25million that Celtic are demanding, but the Sun’s report suggests that the Cottagers are willing to spend big money knowing they’ll receive a huge fee when they eventually decide to sell Sessegnon. Celtic must be wary of selling Tierney close to the end of the window, as they’ll then have limited time to replace him. But it doesn’t appear as if the 21-year-old is agitating for a move away from Parkhead in any way, shape or form. However this one shakes out, the Bhoys either come away with their star man intact or £25million better off.

Likely to happen?

While Fulham’s interest does appear to be genuine, there’s no indication that they’d be willing to pay such a vast amount for Tierney. Celtic must remain steadfast in order to ward off the inevitable interest in such a talented player. Whether that steadfastness will be enough to retain the 21-year-old is a mystery at this time.
