Celtic could be making a big mistake if they reject the idea to improve their transfer fee for Hibernian’s John McGinn.

The 23-year-old would be an exciting prospect for the Glasgow side if Brendan Rodgers could lure the Scot to Parkhead.

After their third bid of £2million was rejected by Hibernian, according to the Edinburgh Evening News, Celtic should be willing to pay the extra fee to sign a promising aspect for Scottish football.

McGinn was in magnificent form against Greek side Asteras Tripolis on Thursday night as Hibs came from two goals down to complete a terrific comeback and was watched by a host of scouts.

McGinn is a type of player that would fit perfectly into Celtic’s side and would continue to develop under the watchful eye of Rodgers, who has been effective with bringing through youth talent and transforming them into important squad members.

The Glasgow-born ace should consider a move to his hometown and play for one of Scotland’s most historical clubs. He has a long way to go in his career but should start to aim higher in terms of clubs. Apart from a Scottish Cup win in 2016, McGinn is lacking trophies with his current side and the Bhoys, who achieved a second consecutive treble last season, can offer that with ease.

Capped nine times by his national side, McGinn will aim to feature for Scotland on a regular basis and a move to a bigger club that can grant him a better opportunity of representing on the national stage.

Celtic sold Stuart Armstrong to Southampton in June for £7 million, according to BBC Sport, and the club need to be seeking a solid replacement to fill his boots and McGinn fits the bill.
