Leeds are closing in on a deal for Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford after a £6.75million fee was agreed, according to Football Insider.

Leeds have been desperate to find a new striker this summer and have now moved for former Chelsea striker Bamford after a deal for Matej Vydra stumbled because of wage demands.

The report claims Orta is a big fan of Bamford after signing him at Middlesbrough when he headed up recruitment at the Riverside.

Good move for Leeds?

Vydra was the Championship’s top scorer last season but has seemingly priced himself out of Leeds’ reach.

Bamford has scored 33 goals in 97 games for Boro and Leeds will be hoping he can step this up at Elland Road next season.

At 24 he’s got his best years in front of him and Leeds are getting him for the same price that Middlesbrough paid Chelsea for him.

It’s a good deal if it goes through.

Likely to happen?

With a fee agreed it looks like this deal will go through and Leeds fans will get a striker, albeit maybe not their first choice.

Personal terms have yet to be agreed by the sounds of it but there’s been nothing to suggest that there will be any problem getting these agreed.
