Derby County have had their offer accepted for Brentford attacker Florian Jozefzoon, according to Sky Sports (live transfer blog, 13.08).

Brentford confirmed that they had accepted an offer for Jozefzoon but didn’t name the club leading to plenty of speculation about his possible destination.

The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon said it was Leeds but this report says that it’s Frank Lampard’s Derby who have stolen a march on their rivals.

However, the Sky report does also state that other clubs have made offers but none have met the club’s valuation.

Good move for Derby?

Any Championship club would be happy to have Jozefzoon in their side after his impressive season for Brentford last campaign. And Derby are really sharpening their arsenal ahead of the new campaign with Frank Lampard at the helm. He’s already landed Liverpool attacker Harry Wilson on loan until the end of the season, ahead of sides like Rangers and Celtic. Now he could be about to land Jozefzoon ahead of Leeds, who have also been credited with an interest. That will put their noses out of joint and be another feather in the cap of Lampard.

Likely to happen?

The Brentford tweet said that personal terms had ye to be agreed and there’s also the question of a medical, but Derby have definitely stolen a march on their rivals and are in pole position to land another attacking talent. If Jozefzoon fancies a move to Derby this one could go through quickly.
