Tottenham have submitted a £22.9million bid for Nice centre-forward Alasanne Plea, according to RMC Sport.

The French broadcaster claim on their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 1.58pm France time) that Spurs have lodged a “concrete offer” for the Frenchman, 25.

RMC report the two club are in “ongoing” talks over the transfer of Plea from the Ligue 1 outfit to the Premier League big hitters.

OPINION

Spurs already have a pretty decent centre-forward who has a sound idea how to find the back of the net. But not even Harry Kane is indestructible or able to deliver the goods in every single game over the course of a marathon campaign. The Londoners need to A-list back up for their star man, someone who is mobile and not past his best (which rules out Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente, the desperate deputies of the last two campaigns). Plea joined Nice in 2014 for a £600,000 and has developed rapidly in the subsequent period to the point where he has just had the best season of his career. He scored 21 goals and supplied seven assists from 49 matches in all competitions in 2017-18 and looked an even more penetrative forward than Mario Balotelli even though the ex-Liverpool and Man City man scored four more times. With 44 goals from 135 Nice matches and showing he has smoothed off many of his rough edges, Plea could now be the latest player to make an expensive move from the French top tier to the moneyspinning Premier League.
