Tottenham earned bragging rights in London last season with their third-placed finish in the Premier League, leaving the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in their shadows.

Spurs need to try continue pushing at the top-end of the league table and laying down the gauntlet this summer with a marquee signing would be a positive step.

The North London club do have a variety of creative forces already in their squad, but manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to look to strengthen his options and have plenty of options to help them compete across all competitions.

Spurs should consider hijacking Chelsea’s reported interest in CSKA Moscow attacking midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, something that would be a mega statement of intent.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are stepping up their interest in the creator with a proposed £22million deal.

However, Spurs should attempt to hijack interest in the playmaker and offer him Champions League football next season with them.

Golovin has rose to fame so far this summer due to his dazzling displays in the World Cup with Russia and the fleet-footed attacker looks like can be perform at an elite level.

The Russian would be an absolute steal at anywhere around the £20million mark and crack up competition for places in the Spurs squad.

He is a 22-year-old that is only going to improve in the coming years and manager Mauricio Pochettino would be able to slot him into the attacking system at Spurs.
