Tottenham have been given a huge boost in their pursuit of centre-forward Alasanne Plea as Nice look to a striker well known to Premier League audiences to replace him.

Loic Remy is firmly in the sights of the Ligue 1 outfit in a potential move that is music to the ears of the Spurs hierarchy led by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Multiple French reports have claimed in recent days that the Premier League club are working on a deal to land Frenchman Plea.

Spurs fans should take them seriously given the prestige and standing of the media outlets involved, with broadcaster RMC Sport claiming on their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 1.58pm France time) that the Londoners have lodged a “concrete offer” for Plea of £22.9million.

Moreover, RMC Sport latter added on their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 2.03pm France time) that Nice have approached ex-Chelsea, Newcastle United, QPR and Crystal Palace striker Remy to replace him

It is said Plea will “probably depart” this summer as well as his partner-in-crime for the last two seasons, Mario Balotelli.

Remy is as well travelled as the nomadic Balotelli, joining Las Palmas from Chelsea last summer before yet another move in January when he joined Getafe on loan.

The 31-year-old has already had one spell at Nice among the 10 clubs in his career, scoring 30 goals in 75 matches before quitting for Marseille in 2013.

A return is now on the cards, which is great news for Spurs in their bid to prise the prolific Plea from the side that finished eighth in last season’s Ligue 1.

If Nice can advance a deal for Remy, it is highly likely they will green light the exit of a player six years younger and who has the ability to make the step up to the France senior side.
