Wolves have made approached Leeds United with a “surprise” enquiry over goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell, according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning that Wolves are in hot pursuit of Peacock-Farrell, 21, as Nuno Espirito Santo eyes up signing a new goalkeeper ahead of his side’s first season back in the Premier League.

The shot-stopper, who stands at 6ft 4in tall according to transfermarkt, only broke into the Leeds first team last season, appearing in their final 11 games of the Championship season.

Good move for Wolves?

Peacock-Farrell has very limited experience of senior football and given Wolves’ budget, they should really be looking for someone who is ready for the top-flight.

While the 21-year-old was very impressive for Leeds last season, most notably against Wolves in March, he is not yet ready for the step up and he is definitely best off staying at Elland Road to try and earn the number one shirt for next term.

Wolves already have John Ruddy and are widely reported to be trying to sign Rui Patricio.

Them two options are perhaps better than the inexperienced Leeds shot-stopper.

Likely to happen?

Leeds have three senior goalkeepers on their books at the moment.

Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan were both poor in their debut campaigns at Elland Road and the Whites will surely want to cash in on them before letting Peacock-Farrell go.

It would be a massive shock to see this deal happen.
