Tottenham fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that the club has tabled a bid for OGC Nice forward Alassane Pléa.

French news outlet Foot Mercato has reported that Spurs are interested in signing Pléa, 25, this summer and the North London club has opened the bidding with an offer worth £22million.

It is understood that Mauricio Pochettino has made Pléa his plan B after giving up hope of signing Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

Pléa was in stunning form for Nice last season, scoring 21 goals and supplying seven assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

The former France Under-21 international even hit four goals in one game when he put Guingamp to the sword in March.

Having seen this transfer report, Spurs fans have been largely underwhelmed, mainly due to the fact that they have not heard of the the Nice goal machine.

One fan claimed that this bid is a “smokescreen” for Gareth Bale returning to the club.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Tottenham already have three natural centre-forwards on their books in Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen, who spent last season out on loan at Fenerbahce.

Heung-min Son is another option who can play up front and the South Korean has on the whole done a much better job than the likes of Llorente and Janssen when called upon.
