Rangers will unveil Connor Goldson as Steven Gerrard’s fifth signing of the summer on Wednesday, according to broadcaster Bill Young.

The Rock Sport Radio presenter, who is a reliable source of information from inside Ibrox, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the Gers’ next signing is now just days away and will be made official mid-week.

The Daily Record has recently reported that Goldson, 25, is due to jet into Glasgow to undergo a medical after a seven-figure fee worth £3million was agreed with Brighton.

He looks set to become Gerrard’s fifth signing at Ibrox after Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Jamie Murphy and Ovie Ejaria.

Good move for Rangers?

Rangers need to improve their defence this summer and signing up Goldson is a solid start.

Gerrard is yet to bolster his rearguard and with the departures of David Bates and Russell Martin, it leaves that area of the squad very thin.

Bruno Alves may want to quit the Gers after the World Cup while Ross McCrorie has shown he is better of playing in a defensive midfield position.

Goldson will offer a lot to the Light Blues and will be a very fine addition.

Likely to happen?

As long as Goldson passes his medical then this deal is as good as done.

However there are concerns about him passing a medical after undergoing heart surgery last year.

It should be fine though and Goldson should be a Rangers player on Wednesday.
