Liverpool teenager Rhian Brewster looks as though he is set to stay at Anfield this summer with his reportedly on the verge of agreeing his first professional contract with the Merseyside club.

Sky Sports has reported that Brewster, 18, is looking set to put pen to paper on a new deal, ending what has been weeks of speculation surrounding his future.

It is understood that Liverpool have sent a warning to Borussia Monchengladbach over their interest in the young forward, which also led to a pre-season friendly between the two clubs being cancelled.

The England Under-18 international is an outstanding young talent and manager Jurgen Klopp will have fans raving about him for securing the player’s future for the time-being at least.

Brewster was instrumental in helping England Under-17s win the World Cup last year and was also in hot form for the Liverpool Under-23s last season in Premier League 2 as he scored five goals and supplied seven assists in 11 appearances.

It’s just a matter of time before he breaks into the Reds first team, and one day he is bound to play for the Three Lions at the highest level of them all.

Fans will be delighted that the club has found a way to get Brewster to stay, but what is next for the young forward?

Another season in the Under-23s seems most likely but could he be knocking on the door of the first team? Or will a loan move make a lot of sense to help him gain first team experience.

If that is the case, there will no doubt be a queue of clubs looking to sign him on a temporary basis.
