Newly-appointed Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa may look to use his contacts with three top-six Premier League clubs to help revamp his squad at Elland Road this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thorton.

Speaking on the transfer talk podcast (41:45 onwards), the reliable journalist claims that Bielsa would be “foolish” to not use the relationship with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino to welcome multiple loan signings to Leeds.

It is understood that Manchester City and Arsenal are other clubs that Bielsa may look to strike loan deals with this summer, with one or two temporary deals on the cards to add quality to the Whites squad.

OPINION

Leeds fans have every right to be excited about the appointment of Bielsa as their new manager. Not only is he a great coach who is bound to get the team playing attractive football next season, but his list of contacts in the game and reputation is sure to help coax some top players to Elland Road in the transfer window. If he is able to strike up deals with Spurs, Man City and Arsenal, then Leeds will already be doing better than they did last summer in the transfer window. Those three clubs have some brilliant young players, especially Spurs, whose manager Pochettino has a great relationship with Bielsa. Hopefully it’s not just youth players that Leeds are looking to sign from these clubs and actually players who are knocking on the door of the first team. Juan Foyth from Spurs would be an interesting one, especially as the Whites have a shortage at centre-back at the moment.
