Uruguay international Abel Hernandez decided to turn down a mega contract offer from Hull City before entering talks with Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The news outlet claims that the lethal finisher, who scored eight goals in 10 appearances this season, snubbed improved terms at the KCOM Stadium and Leeds-Live has now reported that he is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Leeds.

Radrizzani is said to have been leading discussions with the former Palermo forward having used his friendship with super-agent Mina Raoila to help grease the wheels with the striker’s own representatives.

Good move for Leeds?

Hernandez’s form in front of goal is nothing short of clinical.

Even though he has had his injury woes at Hull, he has still scored 28 goals in 49 Championship appearances.

He is available for free and while his wages could be hefty, it’s a gamble worth taking for Leeds, who need to find someway of replacing the goals lost when Chris Wood joined Burnley last summer.

If Hernandez somehow avoids a spell on the sidelines, he could be the Championship golden boot winner next season.

Likely to happen?

With Radrizzani heading talks, Leeds are very serious.

Raoila’s role is something that should also be noted as a man of his influence could help convince the striker’s agents that a move to Elland Road should be what he is looking for this summer.

Wolves, Aston Villa and a host of other teams have been linked to the Uruguay international in recent weeks, so there’s a chance he could still move elsewhere.
